ADVANCE -- It was back to business in the Missouri Class 1A District 2 tournament.

After storms ripped apart the Advance baseball field Monday, first round action resumed Wednesday.

The top-seeded host easily took care of the ninth-seed Scott County Central 13-3, while sixth-seed Ste. Genevieve-Valle upset No. 3 Oak Ridge in a 10-8 slugfest.

The Valle-Oak Ridge contest was a little different from the rest of the first-round games as Scott Central, Oran, St. Vincent and Advance each recorded blowouts.

In today's semifinal games, Advance will meet No. 4 St. Vincent at 2 p.m. and second-seed Oran faces Valle at 4.

Advance 13, Scott Central 3

Daniel Turner struck out the first nine Scott County batters he faced to help lead his team to a five-inning victory.

Advance took a quick 3-0 lead after one, then made it 7-0 after three.

However, in the top of the fourth, the Braves' Chris Johnson hit a three-run homer to cut that lead to 7-3.The Hornets rolled from there.

Turner allowed three earned runs on two hits in 3 2-3 innings of work.D.A. Slinkard closed up striking out three of the four batters he faced in 1 1-3 innings.

Slinkard also went 4-for-4, with three runs scored and an RBI, while Chris Wallace was 3-for-3 with three runs scored.

Valle 10, Oak Ridge 8The Warriors scored in each of the first three innings including seven in the second.

However, the Blue Jays scored in each of the first four innings to keep the game close.

Down 8-1 in the bottom of the second, Oak Ridge slowly crawled back into the game, scoring three runs in the second on a Brent Schreiner homer, then one in the third and two in the fourth.

Valle's Waylon Brase got the win.

Clay Kuehn had two hits and three RBIs for Valle, while teammates Jeremy Mueller and Adam Basler both had two hits.

Brad Ruppel had two doubles for Oak Ridge as well.
