Cape Central's soccer team invoked the mercy rule Tuesday as it peppered visiting Farmington with an 11-1 loss. Cape Central's soccer team invoked the mercy rule Tuesday as it peppered visiting Farmington with an 11-1 loss.

Chris Cole led the barrage with four goals while Brett McNabb had a hand in nearly half the goals with five assists.

Matt Gooden, Arthur Pilsner, Eric Daume, Cody Hill and Jon Mark Thompson each netted a goal and an assist. Justin Shelby and Andrew Christianson kicked home the other two goals.

Cape Central, which improved to 10-7-1, built a 6-0 lead by halftime. After Farmington netted its lone goal to open the second half, the Tigers roared back to score five unanswered goals. The game was stopped due to the `10-Goal Rule' with seven minutes remaining in regulation.

Central's JV (5-2-2) picked up where the varsity left off, pasting Farmington 8-0 before darkness halted play.

Whit Lynn led the way with three goals while Paul Miller had two goals and three assists. Clint Hoffman, Chad Proffer and Nathon Foley all had single goals. Tate Girard finished with three assists and Proffer had two.

Central returns to action Thursday at Shawnee Soccer Park when Sikeston visits for a 4 p.m. contest.
