The Southeast Missouri State University Otahkinas swept this week's Ohio Valley Confernce honors as Jenny Oermann was named OVC Player of the Week and Debbie Schmelz was named OVC Pitcher of the Week.

Oermann, a 5-foot-10 senior shortstop from St. Clair, batted .563 (9-for-16) in games last week with five runs batted in, a double, a triple a home run and a stolen base. She was instrumental in helping Southeast (12-11, 2-0 OVC) win the Saluki Invitational last weekend in Carbondale. Her best game came against Saint Louis when she went 3-for-3 with four RBIs.

For the season Oermann is batting a team-high .397 with two doubles, two triples, two homers and 11 RBIs. She is also 3-for-3 in stolen bases.

Schmelz, a 5-10 senior from Pacific, picked up three wins last week, including a complete-game shutout of Saint Louis. Schmelz pitched 18 innings, gave up 13 hits and struck out 16. She posted a 0.78 earned run average in three outings.

Schmelz is 5-7 with a 2.53 ERA. In 74 2-3 innings, she has struck out 68 and walked 36.
