Southeast Missouri State University's men's basketball program has landed its second junior-college standout in less than a week.

Indians' coach Gary Garner announced Monday that Emmanual McCuthison of Lincoln Trail Community College in Robinson, Ill., has signed a national letter of intent with Southeast.

McCuthison, a 6-foot-4 swing player, averaged 15 points, 7.5 rebounds and three assists per game for Lincoln Trail last season. He was the top free-throw shooter in his region at 87.6 percent and he shot 39 percent from 3-point range.

"McCuthison can play the two or three position," said Garner, referring to shooting guard and small forward. "He is a very good athlete who can really shoot the ball from three. The night I saw him play he was five of five from three."

Originally from Chattanooga, Tenn., McCuthison will be a junior at Southeast next season.

McCuthison becomes the sixth player to sign a letter of intent with the Indians, the other most recent signee being 6-2 junior-college All-American guard Antonio Short of Moberly Community College, who committed late last week.

Southeast's recruiting class also includes 7-2 center Kostas Avgerinos of Athens, Greece; 6-6 forward Tim Scheer, a three-time all-state player from New Haven High School; 6-5 guard Mike Sutherland, an all-stater from Lutheran North High School in St. Louis; and 6-8 forward Jamel Richardson of Florissant Valley Community College in St. Louis.

Garner still hopes to land another player or two and more signings could come in the next few days.

The Indians are reportedly in the running for a standout junior-college point guard from Texas along with a junior-college center.
