BRIEFLY: TENNESSEE STATE PLAYERS HONORED BY OVC

BRENTWOOD, Tenn. -- Tennessee State's Leon Murray and Ed Sanders were named Ohio Valley Conference players of the week Monday for their parts in a 41-8 victory over Alabama State.

Murray, who was OVC offensive player of the year in 1998, was 16-of-29 for 251 yards passing, including three touchdowns, on Sunday. The senior from Shreveport, La., also ran for 40 yards on six carries.

Sanders, a junior strong safety from Nashville, had eight solo tackles, a sack, broke up two passes and blocked a field goal.
