MORLEY -- Scott County Central returned Notre Dame's Christmas present and climbed to the .500 mark in the process Tuesday night.

Scott County, which suffered a first-round loss to the Bulldogs in the University High Christmas Tournament, rallied to defeat Notre Dame 65-62 in the second meeting.

Trailing 53-48 at the start of the fourth quarter, Scott County (10-10) outscored Notre Dame 17-9 over the final eight minutes.

"We played hard. They really stepped up in the fourth quarter and played hard," said Scott County Central coach Todd Porter.

Notre Dame coach Chris Janet said turnovers and missed free throws hurt his team in the final period.

"We had a lot of opportunities," said Janet. "We just didn't execute down the stretch to win it."

John Fort paced the Braves with 21 points while J'reece Johnson added 18.

Zach Miller led Notre Dame with 18 points. Jason Rubel netted 16 and Nick Dannenmueller contributed 10.

After playing to a 19-19 tie in the first quarter, Scott Central moved ahead 38-33 by halftime. Notre Dame then outscored the Braves 20-10 in the third quarter for a 53-48 lead.

Scott City 73, Kelly 65

BENTON -- Tuesday was a big day for Scott City.

The Rams clenched the Scott-Mississippi Conference title, they secured their third straight 20-win season, and they gained a huge measure of revenge by beating Kelly, ranked No. 3 in Class 2A, on the road.

Kelly had beaten the Rams by 20 points in the championship game of the conference tournament. On Tuesday, Scott City never trailed in the second half.

"We were a lot more patient on offense this time," said Scott City coach Derek McCord, whose Rams, ranked No. 6 in 2A, improved to 20-2. "Everybody played well. The guys are starting to focus."

McCord said his team played better defense, rebounded better and were able to handle Kelly's fastbreak more this meeting.

Five Rams scored in double figures. Jon Beck had 23 points, Tim Lowery 15, Howie Stubenrauch 12, Adam Spinks 11 and Ryan Weatherspoon 10.

For Kelly (20-3), Denver Stuckey finished with 18 points, Ben Klipfel 13, Jim Hulshof 12 and Jason Glastetter 12.

"It was just a very well played game," said Kelly coach Kent Mangels. "The fans got their money's worth. Our kids gave a very nice account of themeselves."

Scott City held a 23-17 first-quarter advantage and led 35-33 at halftime. The Rams took a 53-48 lead into the fourth quarter.

Charleston 60, Delta 44

CHARLESTON -- Delta took a slim one-point lead into the fourth quarter, but it proved only to be a wake-up call for Charleston, which outscored the Blue Jays 19-2 in the final period.

A tight game throughout, Delta led 42-41 at the start of the fourth quarter. The Bobcats held an 18-17 lead after the first quarter and the teams were tied 28-28 at halftime.

Shawn Kinder scored a game-high 24 points for Delta and Garrett DeBrock added 12.

Larico Coleman netted 20 points for Charleston (18-5). Howard Biles scored 11 and Romie Whitney and Jeff Ewing both finished with 10.

Charleston won the JV contest 42-31.

Chaffee 43, Leopold 42

CHAFFEE -- Chaffee's Josh Hanlon put on a show in the fourth quarter in the Red Devils' win at home against Leopold Tuesday night.

In the period, Hanlon scored 13 of his game-high 16 points and hit 4 of his 5 3-pointers. The last 3-pointer came at the buzzer over three defenders to win the game.

Andy Proffer added 12 points for Chaffee (2-16).

For Leopold, Adam Horrell had 11 points.

Hillsboro 78, St. Vincent 59

PERRYVILLE -- St. Vincent trailed by five points after three quarters before being outscored 28-14 in the fourth period in its loss Tuesday night.

Josh Wheeler scored 14 points, Chad Winkler 11 and Dusty Wengert 10 for the Indians (2-18, 1-7 Jefferson County). Ryan Good's 19 points led Hillsboro.

St. Vincent's JV won 57-36 and improved to 19-1.

Woodland 66, Advance 61

MARBLE HILL -- Advance outscored Woodland 28-18 in the fourth quarter but came up short Tuesday night.

Jason Banderman had a game-high 25 points for Woodland (13-8) and David Massa added 13.

For Advance, Tommy Tucker had 15 points, Shannon Bennett 12 and Gary Ahern 11.

Meadow Heights 76, Oak Ridge 73

OAK RIDGE -- Kevin Weaver netted a game-high 28 points to lead the Panthers to victory.

Jeremy Heine added 16 points and J.D. Brune tallied 10.

Matt Preusser paced Oak Ridge (2-15) with 21 points, followed by Eric Hobeck 14, Josh Welsh 12, Tom Frentzel 12, and Darren Hahs 10.

With the score tied 32-32 at halftime, Meadow Heights outscored Oak Ridge 24-18 in the third quarter for a 56-50 advantage.

Perryville 92, St. Pius 49

HILLSBORO -- Perryville grabbed a 16-point lead in the first quarter and was never threatened en route to a Jefferson County Conference victory.

Perryville (13-9, 6-1) jumped out to a 29-13 lead in the first quarter. The lead never fell below 10 points thereafter. The Pirates led 41-28 at halftime and put the game away with a 19-7 scoring edge in the third quarter.

Paul Weinkein scored 17 points for the Pirates while Jared Tanz netted 15 and Todd French and Josh Moll notched 12 apiece.
