JACKSON -- Notre Dame's Jonathan LeGrand and Cliff Seratti tied for medalist honors Tuesday at Bent Creek Golf Course, shooting 42's over nine holes to lead the Bulldogs to a 171-208 dual victory over Bloomfield.

"It was pretty soggy out there, but our guys handled (the conditions) pretty well," said Notre Dame coach Chris Janet. "We shot our best score of the year so far so they must have handled it pretty well."

Chris Koepper shot a 43 and John Brey and Matt Howard both shot 44. Bloomfield's top score was a 45 turned in by Andy Perry 45.

Notre Dame, now 4-1, plays at Cape Central on Monday.

Jackson boys, girls win

JACKSON -- Tuesday morning's storms nearly washed away Jackson's opening meet of the season, but the weather cleared in time for the Indians and Lady Indians to claim victories over three other schools.

"We almost called it off, but everybody wanted to run and it turned out pretty nice," said Jackson coach Bob Sink. "We needed to compete and I'm glad we ran."

Jackson won the boys meet with 118 points. Kelly was second with 66 points, followed by Dexter (43.5) and Fredericktown (34.5).

The Lady Indians totaled 130 points to claim the girls title. Kelly was second with 61 points with Dexter (59) and Fredericktown (6) following.

St. Vincent 7, Crystal City 5

CRYSTAL CITY -- In a game from Monday, St. Vincent junior Dusty Wengert smashed two solo home runs and pitched five innings to lead St. Vincent to a Jefferson County Conference victory.

The Indians out-hit the Hornets 9-7, getting two hits each from Wengert, Cory Strattman and Bryan Meyer. Wengert (1-0) pitched the first five innings, allowing one earned run, to get the win.
