CHAFFEE -- Kelly improved its season record to 9-1 with a 5-2 baseball victory over Chaffee Friday afternoon.

Denver Stuckey allowed seven hits in going the distance for the Hawks. Stuckey struck out six and walked one.

Josh Hanlon also allowed seven hits in suffering the loss. He struck out four and walked three in 6 1/3 innings.

John Livingston had two hits for Kelly, including a solo home run in a two-run seventh. Bradley Kolwick also had two hits for Kelly.

Jason Harrell, Denny Graviett and Jeremy Vandeven each had two hits for Chaffee (7-4).

Kelly led throughout, scoring two runs in the top of the first. After Chaffee scored a run in the bottom of the first, both teams scored single runs in the second for a 3-2 Kelly lead. The Hawks then added two insurance runs in the seventh.

Advance 12, Delta 1

DELTA -- After a 4-for-4 performance Thursday, Advance's Chris Wallace went 3-for-3 Friday in a six-inning win.

The Hornets improved to 7-2 by outhitting Delta 9-6.

Without an outfield fence to stop Wallace's long drives, he finished with a single, double, triple and five RBIs.

"He had a long double and a long triple," said Advance coach Chuck Powers. "He's a big kid. If Delta had a fence those two balls would have been home runs.

Tyler Hitt and Adam Rainey added two hits and both scored three runs. Garrett Broshuis pitched five innings, striking out four, for the win.

Oran 24, Scott County Central 1

MORLEY -- A 1-1 tie after one inning turned into a rout as Oran won in five innings.

Oran (9-2) led just 3-1 after two innings, but broke the game open with seven runs in the third, six in the fourth and eight in the fifth.

Jeremy Pobst collected four of Oran's 19 hits. Jeff Schaefer banged out two doubles among his three hits and finished with 4 RBIs. Justin Wierman also had four RBIs and two hits. Justin McAlister, Dustin Glastetter and Chris Nichols also had two hits apiece.

McAlister (4-0) held Scott County to three hits, striking out nine and walking three.

Softball

Kelly 7, Chaffee 2

CHAFFEE -- Kelly banged out 11 hits and remained undefeated on the season.

Kelly improved to 9-0 overall and 4-0 in Scott-Mississippi Conference play. Chaffee fell to 8-2 overall.

Natalie Robert, one of four Lady Hawks with two hits, hit a home run and finished with two RBIs. Nicole Kern also had two hits and three RBIs, while Marissa Essner had a double and a triple. Meghan Beggs also had two hits.

Brittany Lambert picked up the win on the mound, allowing seven hits. Jamie Duncan suffered the loss and Jennifer Siebert had two singles for Chaffee.

JV baseball

Cape Central 3, Festus 2

Cape Central's JV continued its excellent season, improving to 12-1-1.

Starter Matt Welker recorded the win and Justin Cook pitched two innings for the save.

Josh McIntosh banged out three hits and Tim Huckstep had a double.
