The Scorpions went 3-2 on the day, with victories against Springfield, St. Louis Bombers `B' and the University of Missouri. The losses were against the Kansas City Rugby Football Club and St. Louis Bombers `A.'

Eleven Scorpions scored throughout the day: Mark Freeman, Marc Harris, Todd DeShazier, Richard Fricke, Mark Lineberry, John Creutz, Alan Kloss, Brian Harthill, Walter Denton, Dan Grimm and Marcellus Jones.

Said coach Tim Joplin of the tournament, "I'm proud of the way we performed. The third-place finish shows that we are able to compete at a high level against some of the best teams in the Midwest."

The Scorpions will host the Riverfest 7's Tournament Saturday at Arena Park.
