Some of the state's top high school softball teams will compete Saturday during the annual Jackson Invitational.
The field will feature 16 teams, including some of the top squads from the St. Louis area. Lafayette, Seckman, Cor Jesu, Fox, Lutheran South, Notre Dame and Oakville will make the trip from St. Louis.
Southeast Missouri teams competing, in addition to host Jackson, will be Cape Central, Perryville, Kelly and P. Bluff.
Also in the field are Hannibal, St. Clair, Hillsboro and Vienna, Ill.
First-round games at the Jackson City Park will be played at 8:30 and 9:55 Saturday morning. The semifinals will be held at about 3:35 p.m., with the championship game set for 5 p.m.
