KENNETT -- Westwood Hills Country Club of Poplar Bluff prevailed Saturday in the Southeast Missourian Cup Golf competition held at the Kennett Country Club.

The annual event pits eight golfers from each of the six country clubs in Southeast Missouri. Every team plays nine holes of chapman, nine holes of scotch, nine holes of scramble and nine holes of best ball.

Westwood Hills won the competition with a team score of 572. Bobby Goodwin and Steve Shock led the way at 135, followed by Ben Goodwin and Scott Spencer at 141; Jim Markel and Bob Klein at 146; and Jim Sides and Bob Reeves at 150.

Kimbeland Country Club of Jackson placed second with a score of 577. Todd Eastin and Greg Leet were the leaders at 139. Then came Mark Unger and Dennis Drerup (142); Todd Ladd and Trae Thrower (147); and Gary King and Mark Mungle (149).

Host Kennett Country Club finished third with a 593. The squad's scores were: C.W. Knauts and Patrick McHaney 144; Matt Shetley and Keith Privett (149); Ed Norton and Ben Cantrell (150); and Stewart Tapson and Rick Jones (150).

Rounding out the team scores were Sikeston Country Club at 597, Cape Girardeau Country Club at 605 and Hidden Trails Country Club of Dexter at 612.

For Cape CC, Mark Johnson and Jack Smith shot 149, as did Tom Hamilton and Jason Crowell. Lance Bray and Larry McKinney came in at 152, followed by Jack Connell and Jeff Patton at 155.
