The District 5 squad consists of six states: Missouri, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, North Dakota and Nebraska.

An outfielder, Bennett was one of only three players from Missouri named to the all-star team. The others are Windsor's Cory Lawson and Potosi's Jared Lawson.

Bennett batted .500 for Central last spring and was drafted by the Montreal Expos. However, he decided to accept a baseball scholarship to Baylor University in Waco, Texas, where he is a freshman.
