MURRAY, Ky. -- De'Teri Mayes scored 32 points and broke his own school record for 3-pointers in a season as Murray State defeated Austin Peay 86-78 Thursday night in the Ohio Valley Conference.

The loss by Austin Peay kept Southeast Missouri's hopes alive for a fourth-place finish in the conference. To finish fourth, and gain the accompanying home game in the first round of the OVC tournament, Southeast must win Saturday at Eastern Illinois while Austin Peay must lose at Tennessee-Martin.

With the score tied at 33 with 5:02 remaining in the first half, Murray State (25-3, 15-2 OVC) went on a 10-2 run to end the half with a 43-35 lead. Mayes had eight points in the spurt, including two 3-point baskets.

Austin Peay (15-10, 10-7) got no closer than six points in the second half, at 72-66 with 4:07 to play.

Mayes finished with seven 3-pointers in the game. He broke his old record of 83 in a season and finished Thursday night's game with a season total of 85.
