As expected, Southeast Missouri State University's women's basketball program landed two high school seniors Wednesday as the spring signing period got under way.

Southeast coach Ed Arnzen announced the signing of 5-foot-5 point guard LaShelle Porter from Evansville, Ind., and 5-9 shooting guard Tiffany Melis from Plymouth, Wis.

Porter averaged 14 points per game for a 21-2 team and earned all-metro honors in Evansville while Melis averaged 21 points a contest and was her conference's player of the year.

"These two signees help solidify our guard situation," said Arnzen. "We signed some good post players in the fall but we needed help with the guards. LaShelle will give us some quickness and Tiffany will give us some outside scoring punch."

Arnzen, whose program landed three highly-touted players last fall during the early signing period, said he expects to sign one more player next week.
