Angel Rubio apparently won't be the only former Southeast Missouri State University product to play in the National Football League this season.

Marquis Walker, who spent parts of two seasons with the St. Louis Rams before being released last year, has made the roster of the Oakland Raiders.

A 5-foot-10, 175-pound cornerback with exceptional speed, Walker completed his eligibility at Southeast in 1995, when he led the Indians in interceptions.

Walker signed as a free agent with the Rams. He played with St. Louis in 1996 and started the 1997 season with the Rams before being released.

At Oakland, Walker is playing for first-year head coach Jon Gruden, a former assistant at Southeast.

Rubio, a noseguard who finished his playing career at Southeast in 1997, made the roster of the San Francisco 49ers.

The NFL season begins Sunday, with the 49ers playing the New York Jets and the Raiders taking on Kansas City.
