BELL CITY -- Bell City High's volleyball team, which won the Class 1A state championship this past season, recently received more honors.

Carl Ritter was named Class 1A Coach of the Year by the Missouri High School Volleyball Coaches Association while senior Denise Steiner and junior Leslie Lee were named to the all-state first team.

Also, Bell City's Courtney Brockmeyer made the second team, as did Leopold's Alicia Halter.

"It's an honor for me and the girls," said Ritter, whose squad went 33-3-2 on the way to the state title. "We had a great season."

Bernie, which won the 2A state title, was honored as Bill Zoll was named Coach of the Year and Erin Holt, Amy Johnson and Erin Moore all made the first team.
