Chaffee's Junior American Legion improved to 24-0 Thursday with a doubleheader sweep of the SEMO Bank Junior Legion at Capaha Field.

Chaffee won by scores of 5-2 and 8-5 as Cape dropped to 5-17.

Chaffee got two complete game wins on the mound from two Dustins. Dustin Glastetter went the distance in the first game and Dustin Dannenmueller went all seven innings in the 8-5 nightcap, striking out 10.

Tommy Stidham had two of Chaffee's five hits in the opening game. Mike Sullivan had two of SEMO Bank's five hits. Mark Ostendorf (1-3) went the distance, but was tagged with the loss. Cape committed five errors as Chaffee jumped on top 2-0 in the first inning without the aid of a hit. Both team scored a single run in the fourth and Cape moved to within 3-2 with a run in the sixth. But Chaffee iced the game with two runs in the seventh.

In the second game, John Wipfler smacked a two-run home run in the first inning to put Chaffee on its way to another win. Chaffee held an 8-0 lead before SEMO Bank scored five times in the final two innings.

Andrew Mueller ripped a two-run double for Cape. Tommy Wencewicz went the distance for Cape, striking out eight.
