Smith then launched a three-run homer in the fifth to up the advantage to 10-4. The Capahas added two runs in the sixth and three in the seventh.

Kohlfeld, eyeing a big five-game series with Waterloo, Ill., this weekend, used four pitchers -- Jason Duncan, Danny Simpher, Brandon West and Chad Bogenpohl. The latter three pitchers allowed just one hit over five inning. Simpher, who allowed one hit and struck out three, was credited with the win.

Darin Kinsolving had four of the Capahas' 12 hits. Murphy finished with three, while Tom Breuer and Kress had two apiece.

"This weekend we have a critical, tough five-game series against one of the better teams in the Midwest," said Capahas manager Jess Bolen.

The Capahas visit Waterloo for a doubleheader on Friday.
