O'FALLON -- Notre Dame High's boys soccer team defeated John F. Kennedy 4-0 Monday in the first round of the St. Dominic Tournament.

Notre Dame, which will face Clayton in Wednesday's semifinal action, improved to 15-2-3 on the season.

Zach Miller provided the only goal the Bulldogs needed just nine minutes into the game off a pass from Oliver Sanders. Notre Dame took the 1-0 lead into halftime.

Jonathan LeGrand deposited a Jason Garner pass one minute into the second half and Sanders later upped the lead to 3-0 as Tommy Wencewicz assisted on the goal. Zach LeGrand completed the scoring on a penalty kick.

Colin Vandergraaf made several tough saves to record the shutout.

"That was probably the shakiest our defense has played in a while and Colin really picked them up," said Notre Dame coach Brad Wittenborn. "That was probably the best I've seen him play."

JV SOCCER

Cape Central Tournament

Notre Dame won and host Cape Central lost as the Central Tournament opened Monday at Shawnee Park.

Notre Dame (9-3-3) beat Sikeston 2-0 as Matt Bollinger and Luke Oliver scored goals.

Central (5-7-3) fell to Carbondale 1-0 as the Terriers scored in the game's final two minutes.

Today at Lou Muegge Field, Central plays Jackson at 3:30 p.m. and Notre Dame faces Poplar Bluff at 5.

Poplar Bluff 15-15

Cape Central 8-7

Poplar Bluff posted a two-game victory over host Cape Central Monday night.

Jessica Balogh collected six kills for Cape Central (2-13-3) and Katie Cozby had six service points.

In JV, Poplar Bluff won 15-2, 15-4.

Cape Central plays its final home match tonight when Scott City visits.

Scott City 15-10-15

Puxico 8-15-12

SCOTT CITY -- Scott City celebrated Senior Night Monday by edging visiting Puxico.

Seniors Jessica Dees (11 blocks) and Amy O'Brien (eight assists) helped spark the victory. The Lady Rams' third senior is Tonya Matthews.

Amber Dannenmueller served the last five points for Scott City (3-14-2).

Puxico won the JV match 15-8, 15-5.

Chaffee 15-15-15

Oran 11-17-7

ORAN -- Chaffee improved to 6-7 by slipping past host Oran Monday night.

Jill Little led the Lady Red Devils with 13 kills while Jennifer Siebert added eight.

Oran (2-16-2) got six kills and four aces from Crissy Roberts. Lindi Prindle had six aces while Sarah Heisserer added four kills.

Chaffee's JV prevailed 15-13, 15-7.

Both teams are back in action at home tonight, Chaffee vs. Jackson and Oran vs. Charleston.

St. Pius 9-15-15

Perryville 15-8-7

PERRYVILLE -- Perryville concluded it regular season schedule with a Jefferson County Conference loss at home Monday night.

Perryville fell to 13-9-3 overall and 5-4 in the conference.

Amy Verseman had a strong all-around match with 10 service points, five kills, eight assists and seven digs. Renee Kaempfe added 12 kills, three blocks and six digs.

St. Pius won the JV contest 15-8, 8-15, 15-7.
