"Dawn has collegiate experience and was highly recommended by (Eastern coach) Larry Joe Inmann," said Arnzen. "She has a lot of personality and enthusiasm. She will add a lot to our program."

Barnes graduated in 1993 from Marycrest International University in Davenport, Iowa with a degree in Psychology. She played both volleyball and basketball at Marycrest, earning all-conference in both sports.

Current assistant Julia Klocek was promoted to the No. 2 assistant position. She replaces Marcia Brooks, who resigned earlier in the month to take a similar job at the University of Missouri.
