ROBINSON SELECTED TO CLASS AA ALL-STAR TEAM

Kerry Robinson continues to make plenty of noise in the minor leagues.

Robinson, a former Southeast Missouri State University standout who is in his third season of professional baseball, has been selected to play in next Monday's Class AA All-Star Game in San Antonio.

Robinson is putting together an impressive season as the starting left fielder for the Arkansas Travelers, the St. Louis Cardinals' Class AA team in Little Rock.

Prior to a game Monday night, Robinson was among the Texas League leaders in batting average at .331 and stolen bases with 16. He had nine doubles, three triples and two home runs while scoring 49 runs and driving in 42 runs from his leadoff spot.

A 34th-round selection in the 1995 draft, Robinson excelled last season for the Cardinals' Class A team in Peoria, Ill., batting .359 with 17 doubles, 14 triples, two homers, 98 runs scored and 50 stolen bases.

As a senior at Southeast in 1995, the St. Louis native batted .385 and had a 35-game hitting streak that ranks as one of the longest in NCAA history.

"It's just great what Kerry is accomplishing," said Southeast coach Mark Hogan. "So far he's been producing at every level he's played at. Making this all-star team is quite an honor."

* Of the two Southeast products who were taken in this year's draft, only one is currently playing professionally.

Infielder LaMonte Collier, selected in the 34th round by the Phillies, is with their Class A team in Martinsville, Va. Through eight games, he was hitting .200.

Pitcher Dave Siboda, taken in the 48th round by the Blue Jays, has not yet signed while he works on rehabilitating some arm problems. Hogan said the Blue Jays are still interested in Siboda and he should be ready to go next spring.
