As expected, former Charleston High basketball standout Jeramy Biles has enrolled at Southeast Missouri State University.

Biles, who played for St. Louis University as a freshman last season, will have to sit out the 1997-98 season under NCAA transfer rules but he will be able to practice with the Indians. He will then have three seasons of eligibility remaining.

The 5-foot-10 Biles had a standout rookie campaign with SLU's Billikens last year, being named to the Conference USA all-freshmen team. He played in all 29 SLU games in 1996-97, averaging 7.4 points per contest and leading the team in steals with 42.

Biles had some particularly notable performances last season, including a career-high 17 points against Southern Mississippi in the Conference USA Tournament. He also hit two free throws with 2:32 remaining to help upset Louisville; had six points, three assists and no turnovers against UCLA; and scored 16 points against Houston.

A two-time Class 3A first-team all-stater at Charleston, Biles averaged nearly 19 points per game as a senior in helping lead the Blue Jays to the state championship with a 33-1 record.

"I'm excited that Jeramy has decided to continue his college career at Southeast Missouri State," said Southeast coach Gary Garner. "He has a lot of talent and a great work ethic."
