'GREAT SCOUT EVENT' SATURDAY

The "Great Scout Event," featuring pinewood derby, raingutter regatta and space derby races, will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Osage Community Center.

The event is sponsored by the Shawnee District of the Greater St. Louis Area Council, Boy Scouts of America.

The pinewood derby, rain gutter regatta boats and space ships are carved from blocks of wood by the boys. Trophies will be awarded to winners.

The pinewood derby track is provided by Cub Scout Pack 20 and includes an electronic-controlled finish line and a laptop computer.

In addition to Scout displays and games, Native American dancing will take place, and Boy Scouts will demonstrate skills in the model campsites.
