Voters in Cape Girardeau and Scott counties will elect candidates for boards of education when they go to the polls on Tuesday.

Most area school districts are seeking to fill three, three-year terms. Election polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday.

In Cape Girardeau County, only Oak Ridge candidates lacked competition in their bids for school board seats. Oak Ridge incumbents Jeff Hahs, Charles Glueck and Jackqueline Ludwig will remain school board members for another three years.

Elsewhere in the county, Nell Holcomb incumbents Lillian Faye Farrow and Jeri Holcomb are competing against Mark Martin and Kim Kelley for three available positions.

In Scott County, Kelly and Chaffee school districts have three candidates apiece for school board positions. Chaffee incumbents William McFerron, Linda Cunningham Wessell and Randy Dooley, and Kelly schools incumbents Teresa DeWitt, Cindy Bollinger and Sonny Scheffer all will be re-elected to three-year terms.

Voters deciding the Kelso C-7 school board race have four candidates to choose from. Incumbent Rodney Dock and newcomers Dorothy Deason, Jerry Klaffer and Fred Higdon all are school board hopefuls.

Incumbent Larry Hatfield and six other candidates are vying for the Oran school board. Joining Hatfield in the race are Ray Cook, Lee Trankler, Jerry Lange, Dan Heeb, Mark Eftink and Neal Seyer.
