NEW HAMBURG -- Sportsmen and/or sportswomen have only a few days left to practice their swings for the 14th annual Kow Pasture Klassic, to be held at Schindler's Tavern in New Hamburg.

The annual tournament will be held Saturday, starting at 10 a.m.

The event, sponsored by Kohlfeld Distributing and Schindler's Tavern, will feature a number of events. Fees for a four-person team is $60. Fees for participation in the Longest Ball, Golf/T-Spoon Shuttle and the Chip & Putt-Putt events are $5 each.

Proceeds go to the Kenny Rogers Cerebral Palsy Center in Sikeston.

The annual event has raised more than $60,000 for the center, since the tournament started in 1984.

Four-person teams may enter by calling Schindler's Tavern, 573-545-3709, or the CP Center at 573-472-0397.

With a $60 greens fee, each entrant receives a T-shirt, complimentary beverages and sandwiches.

You don't have to be a golfer to play in the Kow Pasture Klassic, and, in fact, it might not help.

The event, billed in some tournaments of the past, as an "insult to the sport of golf," is played with tennis balls and some often unorthodox clubs.

Four-person teams hit tennis balls around the course - a farm near Schindler's Tavern -- using any excuse for golf clubs. They will compete for first- and second-place prizes.

Booby prizes are also available for poor sportsmanship, wildest dress, worst score and most unusual clubs.
