A Sikeston man will become Cape Girardeau's new inspection director.
Tarryl D. Booker was selected as the director of the city's inspection department. He begins work May 17.
Booker fills the post vacated in November when Rick Murray left to take a job as planning director at Fulton.
Booker has been building inspector for Sikeston since 1992. He has experience in both plant and physical inspections of new and existing buildings as well as plumbing and electrical inspections.
He was the first building inspector in Sikeston's history to be certified by the building commission for both BOCA and CABO regulations. He has been a part-time rehabilitation inspector for the Bootheel Regional Planning office since 1997.
Booker will be responsible for supervising and coordinating the duties of the code inspector, plan review staff and other inspection services.
