Dr. Eric Mount, the son of a former minister at First Presbyterian Church, will preach there Sunday. Mount's father was pastor of First Presbyterian from 1947 to 1967. Dr. Eric Mount, the son of a former minister at First Presbyterian Church, will preach there Sunday. Mount's father was pastor of First Presbyterian from 1947 to 1967.

Mount is professor of religion at Centre College in Danville, Ky. He has been a faculty member since 1966. He teaches on topics like business and Christian ethics, Bible history and contemporary theology. He has served as college chaplain, vice president and dean of students at the college.

Mount is author of three books, "Conscience and Responsibility," "The Feminine Factor" and "Professional Ethics in Context: Institutions, Images and Empathy." His fourth book is due out in October.

He is a graduate of Southwestern College at Memphis, now Rhodes College. He received a divinity degree from Union Theological Seminary and a master's from Yale Divinity School. He also holds a doctorate from Duke University.

Mount is an ordained minister who is active in the Presbyterian Church in Danville and the Transylvania Presbytery. He received the John E. Haycraft Award from the NAACP in 1985 for his contributions to civil rights.

He and his wife, Truly, have four daughters. Truly Mount teaches French at Centre College. The couple directed the college's program in Strasbourg, France, from 1992 to 1993 and will do so again in January.
