LOOK ALIKE EVENT TO HELP RED CROSS

A Mother-Child Look Alike Contest is set for 1 p.m. May 8 at West Park Mall. Proceeds benefit the American Red Cross.

In the past the contest has been open to mother-daughter pairs only. This year's competition is open for mother-son pairs as well.

A $5 fee will benefit Red Cross.

"We are delighted to be involved in such a wonderful event," said Mary Burton, executive director of the Southeast Missouri chapter of the American Red Cross. "To also benefit from donations is simply an added bonus."

Winners of the Red Cross Beanie Baby raffle will be drawn at the event. Tickets for the raffle can be purchased at the Red Cross office and at the customer service center at West Park Mall.

Registration for the contest begins at 11:30 a.m. and ends at 12:55 p.m. There are two categories: mothers with young children from birth to 17, and mothers with adult children 18 and older. Mother-child pairs will be judged on physical resemblance and apparel.
