Woodland High School took eighth place in the Missouri Science Olympiad at the University of Missouri, April 10.

The highest finish was by Blake Rhodes and Joe Blankenship, who took second in the Scrambler division. Heather Roark and Casey Grimsley took third in Polymer Detedtive, while Lisa Vandigriff and Karen Upchurch were third in Earth Sea & Sky competition.

The event had 25 comeptitive events, with no large/small school diivisions. Teh top three teams in each region qualified fors tate.

"We were very proud when we thoguht we were amogn teh top 10," said team member Lisa Murray, "but to be eighth is even better."

"This is a very elite group," said Coach Melody Green, of the top 10 finishers Pembroke Hill, Oak Park, Columbia Hickman, Plattsburg, Rolla, Kearny, Maysville and Country Day. "We are veyr proud to be coutned amogn thsoe schools ina n academic contest."
