Cub Scouts and boys interested in Scouting may enroll for the "Longhorns to Locomotives" Adventure Day Camps, being held this summer at four locations.

The week-long camp is for registered Cub Scouts and Tiger Cubs graduating from first through fourth grades. Boys interested in joining Scouting may call the Boy Scout Service Center.

Camp fees include a T-shirt, segment patch, crafts and drinks. Fees are $27 if received by May 14. The fee goes up to $30 from May 15 through the start of the camp.

Scouts should bring a sack lunch each day. Transportation is arranged by parents. Car pools are recommended.

Volunteer Scouters staff the adventure camps. Camp directors and program directors have been certified by the National Camp School.

Four Cub Adventure Camp dates and locations are scheduled in the Shawnee District, which includes Cape Girardeau, Bollinger, Perry, northern Scott and Stoddard counties.

All the camps include field sports like archery and shooting, fishing, nature, crafts, games and a Webeloe activities program. Friday activities include a twilight cook-out, campfire, songs and skits.

The Cape Girardeau and Jackson day camp will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 19 to 23 at Cape Girardeau County Park South. Pam Davidson is camp director, and Deena Simmons is program director.

The Marble Hill day camp will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 21 to 25 at Pellegrino Park. Saundra Lix is camp director, and Sherry Limbaugh is program director.

The Perryville camp is from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 28 to July 2 at the Seminary Picnic Grounds in Perryville. Linda Bauwens is camp director and Lisa Moll is program director.

New this year is a Chaffee day camp to be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 26 through 30 at the Elks Park. Jill Hendrix is camp director, and Pam Ishmael is program director.
