Young people who want to learn proper babysitting techniques and basic child care are invited to take part in Southeast Missouri Hospital's Super Sitter Class held 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday in the hospital's Harrison Room. Young people who want to learn proper babysitting techniques and basic child care are invited to take part in Southeast Missouri Hospital's Super Sitter Class held 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday in the hospital's Harrison Room.

The course helps prepare youngsters for possible babysitting responsibilities. The course also helps participants understand the emotional and developmental needs of infants, toddlers and elementary school age children.

Course sessions include Growth and Development; Sitting Do's and Don'ts; Medical Emergencies; First Aid Techniques, including child CPR; Accident Prevention; and Household and Personal Safety.

Super Sitter classes are open to boys and girls between ages 11 and 16. The course fee of $25 per person covers the cost of handouts, lunch, snacks, a Super Sitter kit, badge and certificate.

Additional classes will be held Friday, June 11; Friday, June 18; Friday, July 16; Friday, Aug. 13; and Saturday, Oct. 16.
