The July meeting of the American Legion Post # 158 was called to order by Finance Officer Mike Proctor, at 8 p.m. The Color Guard advanced the colors, Chaplain Boyd Summers, gave the opening prayer. The pledge of allegiance to the flag, and the preamble of the American Legion Constitution were recited in unison...

The July meeting of the American Legion Post # 158 was called to order by Finance Officer Mike Proctor, at 8 p.m. The Color Guard advanced the colors, Chaplain Boyd Summers, gave the opening prayer. The pledge of allegiance to the flag, and the preamble of the American Legion Constitution were recited in unison.

Minutes of the August 1999 meeting were approved as printed.

Program: Charles Hutson introduced Josh Pfefferkorn, one of the Legion sponsored representatives to Boys State. He recounted his activities at Boys State. Josh shared with us his creative leadership activities while serving as a mayor for one of the cities. Josh and his town will go down in Boys State history for their annexation activities. Once again it was shared that Boys State makes a major impact on those who participate. A total of 960 boys were enrolled in Boys State this year.

Financial Report: Mike Proctor Report approved as read.

Membership: Lloyd Law Membership stands at 347.

Graves Information: Glen Bollinger No report

Trustee: Harlen Siebert Motion to contract with a Advanced Pest Control for next year's service needs. Motion carried. Motion to provide up to $2 for expense in waxing the hall floor. Motion approved.

Bingo: Harold Landgraf report approved as read. REMINDER: bingo needs workers.

Homecomers: Bill Poe. Final report to be presented at next meeting.

Child Welfare-Club Room -Hospital: Bill Poe. Report approved as read. Motion made to provide Christmas for the kids (on Dec. 19) at a cost not to exceed $300. Motion carried. Electric lift chair donated by Sid Dougan.

Post Flag Information: Carlton Meyer. No report

Americanism Committee: Charles Hutson. Motion to provide a $2 savings bond to the county winner of the Legion Oratory contest (if there is one) Funds to come from Bingo account. Motion approved. Motion to establish a Music Student of the Month program at Jackson High School for this year. Cost would be $450 for the school year. Funds to come from Bingo account. Motion approved.

American Legion Baseball: Milton Nitsch. Members of the 1999 Post Baseball team and coaches were introduced. A detailed financial report was given.

House Report: Leon Laurentius Approved as read. Need house coverage on Oct. 9.

Public Relation: Jim Nelson. No report

Honor Guard: Bill Sullivan. No report

New Business: Motion to give the 140 Infantry Division of the Missouri National Guard $50 for reunion activities. Motion carried.

Motion to give $1,500 from Bingo Funds to the Cape VA home for Christmas gifts. Motion approved. To be brought forward a second time at October meeting.

Color Guard retired the Colors. Chaplain Boyd Summers gave closing prayer. Closed the meeting at 8:59 p.m.
