BUSINESS MEMO: SPARTECH ACQUISITION

Spartech Corp. has acquired Lustro Plastics Co., a custom sheet and film extruders company at Evanston, Ill..

The St. Louis-based company, which has two large operations in Cape Girardeau -- Spartech Plastics, 2500 Spartech Drive, and Spartech compounding on Nash Road -- announced last week that it acquired the Illinois company for $10.4 million.

Bradley B. Buechler, Spartech president and chief executive officer, said the acquisition "was financed through our existing bank credit facility and will be accretive to Spartech's earnings per share immediately.

The Lustro Co. has annual sales of about $28 million.

Spartech has 26 facilities and produces more than 625 million pounds of extruded sheet and rollstock, specialty plastic alloys, compounds and color concentrates.
