BUSINESS MEMO: D&K EARNINGS

D&K Healthcare Resources Inc., formerly known as D&K Wholesale Drug Inc., has reported record sales and earnings for the first half of the fiscal year, ending Dec. 31.

Net sales for the first half totaled $377.7 million, up 31 percent from the same period a year ago. Sales growth was experienced in independent pharmacy, chain and mail order categories.

Gross profits for the first half of the 1998-1999 fiscal year was $18.2 million, up 37.8 percent. Diluted earnings per share were at 62 cents compared to 34 percent for the same period a year ago.

D&K Healthcare Resources, headquartered in St. Louis, is a full-service, regional wholesale drug distributor, supplying customers from facilities at Cape Girardeau, Lexington, Ky., and Minneapolis. D&K also owns 50 percent interest in Pharmaceutical Buyers Inc. of Boulder Colo.
