BUSINESS MEMO: RECORD REVENUES

A.G. Edwards has reported record revenues and earnings for 1998.

For the fiscal year that ended Feb. 28, net earnings were $292,117,000, up from the 1997 fiscal revenues year of $269,297,000. Total revenues for the year were $2,241,000,000 versus $2,004,000,000 in 1997.

Earnings per share rose to a record $3 compared to $2.75 last year.

For the fourth quarter, the company reported net earnings of $75.9 million, on revenues of $525.1 million, or 78 cents a share. These figures are up from the $73.1 million during the final quarter of the 1997 fiscal year, on revenues of $527.6 million or 73 cents a share.
