Kinder Morgan Energy Partners, L.P. has entered into an agreement with Blue Circle Cement to construct a multimillion-dollar cement import and distribution plant at Kinder Morgan's Shipyard River Terminal in Charleston, S.C.

The project, scheduled for completion in 2000, involves an expansion of the dock to accommodate ships of up to 60,000 tons and construction of storage facilities to be leased to Blue Circle that are capable of storing over 90,000 tons of cement.

Richard D. Kinder, formerly of Cape Girardeau, is chairman and chief executive officer of Kinder Morgan, which owns and operates one of the largest product pipeline systems in the United States, serving customers in 16 states. Kinder Morgan operates 24 bulk terminal facilities that transload more than 40 million tons of coal, petroleum coke, cement and other products annually.

Blue Circle is a leading producer and supplier of quality cements, serving customers in 32 states and two Canadian provinces.
