BUSINESS MEMO: GOOD YEAR FOR PIC

The Southeast Missouri Private Industry Council had a successful year in placing adults into the workforce.

Missouri had expected the council to place 295 adults into jobs. The council exceeded Missouri expectations by placing 552 adults into new jobs, and 427 people into higher paying job.

These results are due to the efforts of Angela White, director of the SPIRALS Job Training Program and Rhonda Bailey of the East Missouri Action Agency, partners with the Southeast Missouri Private Industry Council in an effort to assist clients in finding and keeping good jobs.

These figures do not include the 975 young people who were employed last summer through the summer youth jobs program or the welfare to work programs. Ron Swift is executive director of the Southeast Missouri Private Industry Council with offices at 760 S. Kingshighway in Cape Girardeau. Ben Bradshaw of Malden is the chairman of the Southeast Missouri Private Industry Council. The board consists of two private sector members from each county in the service delivery area. Johnny Ray Conklin of Kelso and J.J. Williamson of Cape Girardeau are the board representatives from Cape Girardeau County; Stephen Gray and Linda Soder are the board representatives from Bollinger County; Louis Griffin of Sikeston and Gay St. Mary of Sikeston are the board representatives from Scott County and Jimmie Lawrence and John Moore, both of Dexter are the board representatives from Stoddard County.
