Tree-felling workshops will be held in a number of Southeast Missouri locations next year.

Injury and death from logging related mishaps is above the national average, said Cory Ridenhour, executive director of the Missouri Forest Products Association (MFPA), headquartered in Jefferson City.

Four-day sessions will be held at Piedmont, starting Aug. 19, and at Potosi, starting Feb. 12. Other sessions will be held at Winona, Macon, Salem and Lebanon.

Soren Eriksson, an internationally known logger from Sweden, will lead the four-day session in hands-on felling operations, and professional foresters will teach the management sessions.

Eriksson appeared at the Midwest Forest Industry Show, held at on Southeast Missouri State University campus in September.
