Masters' vehicle struck the passenger car driven by Deborah J. Poole, 31, of Jonesboro as Poole waited in a line of traffic caused by the previous wreck.

Masters was not injured. Poole sustained minor injuries and was transported to Union County Hospital. The accident occurred at 8:45 p.m.

The accident that caused the backup occurred at 8:42 p.m. when a tractor-trailer driven by James N. Robinson, 30, of Kingsburg, Ill., struck a tractor-trailer driven by David D. Wright, 36, of Jonesboro as Wright was backing his vehicle into a private drive at the intersection of Route 146 and Morgan School Road.

In an unrelated accident Wednesday evening at Mounds, a woman was cited for driving under the influence, illegal transport of alcohol, driving without insurance, driving without a seatbelt and disobeying a stop sign after she struck another vehicle at the intersection of U.S. 51 and Highway 37.

Carole K. Everett, 36, of Ullin was cited in the accident, which occurred at 5:30 p.m.

She was southbound on U.S. 57 at a "Y" intersection and ran a stop sign onto Highway 37, striking a vehicle driven by Neal Dover, 37, of Mound City, according to Illinois State Police.
