In honor of Dr. Seuss's birthday, the Rotary Club of Cape Girardeau and the Cape Girardeau Public Library are sponsoring a celebrity reading program at 6:30 p.m. Monday.

Monday is Read Across America, a nationwide campaign for every child to be in the company of a book at 7 p.m.

In Cape Girardeau, children and their parents are invited to the library's reading event. Local celebrities will read, and each child will receive a book.

Local celebrities are Charlie Neese of KFVS-TV Channel 12, John Mumford, football coach at Southeast Missouri State University, and Waynbe Davenport, vice president for univeristy advancement and executive director of the foundation at the university. Mumford will be accompanied by a football player.

After the stories have been read families will have a chance to meet celebrities. Refreshments wil be served.
