The American Management Association's 11th annual briefing for secretaries and administrative assistants will be held April 22 at Southeast Missouri State University.

The briefing is a nationwide video conference. It will be transmitted to various sites nationwide by satellite.

Locally, it is sponsored by Southeast's Donald L. Harrison College of Business and the university's training and development office.

The event will be held from 11:45 a.m. to 2:15 p.m. in Dempster Hall's Glenn Auditorium.

"Increasing your value as an office professional" will be the theme of this year's briefing, which is being held on Secretaries Day.

There will be a lecture, panel discussion, pre-taped role playing and at least 30 minutes of audience participation via an 800 phone number, fax or Internet.

This year's speakers will include Faith Popcorn, Geraldine Kozlowski and George-Anne Fay.

Popcorn is the author of "Clicking: 16 Trends to Future Fit Your Life, Your Work and Your Business."

Kozlowski is a professional secretary and international president of the 40,000-member Professional Secretaries International.

Fay is a businesswoman and author of "There is Life After Owning Your Own Business."

Advanced registration is $20 per person and must be received by April 20. Registration is $25 at the door. Interested persons can contact the training and development office at (573) 651-2086.
