Wanna win a Beanie Baby? How about getting an eight-page souvenir paper about Mark McGwire? And wouldn't you like to help children through area literacy programs?

You can this Tuesday morning as local groups in Jackson, Gordonville and Oak Ridge will be hawking YELL editions of the Southeast Missourian. For a $2 donation, recipients will receive the special souvenir section on McGwire and his quest to beat Roger Maris' home run record, a reprint of the Missourian's eight-day series on methamphetamine, and a chance to win one of 40 Beanie Babies, including the sought-after Glory Bear and Fortune Bear.

YELL stands for Youth Education Literacy and Learning. Money collected during the one-day fund raiser is used for the Southeast Missourian's Newspaper In Education program. Newspapers are delivered to area classrooms at no cost to schools. In addition, a portion of YELL proceeds will be awarded to local literacy initiatives.

YELL editions will be on sale in Jackson at these intersections and locations: Hope and Jefferson, by the Immaculate Conception School group; West Adams, South Russell and Jefferson by the St. Paul Lutheran School group; South High and West Adams by the Jackson Chamber of Commerce; Donna and Old Cape Road by the Jackson Public Library staff; Burger King and Hardee's by the Jackson Senior Center volunteers; Main and Hope by the ABWA; Willie's Bakery by the Jackson Ministerial Alliance; Highway 61/72/25 junction by the Jackson Rotary members; East Jackson and South Shawnee by the Riverside Regional Library members; Farmington and Main by the Cape County Rotary; Jackson Middle School by the Middle School PTO members; and at the elementary schools by the Jackson High School students.

In Gordonville, you can pick up a YELL edition at Z and Highway 25 junction from Southeast Missourian volunteers; Fruitland residents can get them at the North Elementary and Hwy. 61 junction from Southeast Missourian volunteers; and Oak Ridge residents can pick one up at the Oak Ridge Elementary School.
