-- Held a hearing to consider the request for the rezoning of certain parcels of property owned by Cape Girardeau County along North High Street and North Missouri Street from R-3 (general residential) to C-3 (central business district) as requested by the Cape Girardeau County Commission.

Action Items

Power and Light Committee

-- Approved the mayor's appointment of David Clabaugh to fill unexpired term on Human Relations Board.

-- Authorized interest payment of $12,442.50 on Jackson Missouri Combined Waterworks and Sewerage Series 1998 Bonds due Oct. 1, 1998.

-- Authorized mayor to execute a contract between city and various property owners relative to purchase of industrial property.

-- Accepted petition for voluntary annexation of the Jenkins property and setting a public hearing for 7:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 19.

-- Approved the voluntary annexation of property owned by the Byron L. Lang and Margaret E. Lang Trust.

-- Approved the voluntary annexation of property owned by Farris Nabors/Oak Enterprises.

-- Authorized Horner & Shifrin, Inc., to prepare facilities plans relative to the city's sewer bond projects.

-- Authorized a contractual agreement with Labor Management Advisory Group relative to development of a comprehensive job evaluation/salary management system.

Street Committee

-- Authorized POW-MIA Remembrance Day March along Highway 61 between American Legion Hall and Brookside Park at 1:30 p.m. Saturday.

-- Disapproved an ordinance vacating a right of way for Upper Old Cape Road. The action was taken after a landowner adjacent to the property protested.

-- Approved the minor subdivision plat of King Subdivision No. 1 as submitted by Mr. Mrs. Billy King.

-- Approved the final plat of Fairfield Estates Second Subdivision as submitted by Dr. Stan Williams.

-- Approved the final plat of Bent Creek Spring Lake Addition as submitted by Litz Bros. Inc.

-- Set a public hearing for 7:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 19, to consider the rezoning fo the northwest quadrant of East Jackson Boulevard and Old Orchard Road intersection from I-1 (light industrial) to C-2 (general commercial) as requested by Jim Besher.

-- Set Fall Clean Up/Fix Up Week for Oct. 12-16.
