U.S. Rep. Jo Ann Emerson picked up the endorsement Monday of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.
Chamber officials announced the endorsement at a news conference in Cape Girardeau.
"This election is no contest. Jo Ann Emerson is the obvious choice for American business," said Kris McKnight, executive director of the organization's south central region.
McKnight said, "It's clear that Jo Ann stands with business for increased economic growth, job creation and a less intrusive federal government," McKnight said.
Harold Turner, a member of the U.S. Chamber Board of Directors, presented Emerson with the "Spirit of Enterprise" award.
The U.S. Chamber of Commerce is the world's largest business federation, representing more than 3 million businesses and organizations.
