Power and Light Committee

-- Approved appointment of Alderman Larry Cunningham Jackson Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Ken Parrett to serve on the Industrial Tract Steering Committee.

-- Approved a contractual agreement with Baer Engineering and Land Surveying of Perryville relative to providing engineering services for the city. The work involves the Grandview Acres sewer project.

-- Authorized the Missouri State Highway Patrol to utilize office space adjacent to the Community Room for their Major Crash Unit Operation.

-- Approved a contractual agreement with Farris Nabors/Oak Enterprises.

Street Committee

-- Authorized barricading of streets for Annual Band Festival Parade today.

-- Passed a motion indicating city's current opposition to Missouri Department of Transportation's proposed Highway 72 improvement (widening to five lanes) due to agency's low prioritization of other highway projects in the city.

-- Authorized a contractual agreement with Smith and Company Engineers of Poplar Bluff relative to providing engineering services for the city. The work involves the city' two bridge projects.

-- Authorized transfer of equipment from City of Jackson to Cape Girardeau County. The equipment consists of a step van to be used as a mobile communication unit by the county.

-- Approved a Mutual Aid Agreement with the Forestry Division, Missouri Department of Conservation, relative to the suppression of natural cover fires.
