Joan Gones of Cape Girardeau will meet with several state officials in Jefferson City today regarding public education.

Gones will attend a rally sponsored by the American Association of University Women and meet with Secretary of State Bekki Cook, treasurer Bob Holden, state Rep. Vicky Wilson, and Dr. Susan Zelman, deputy commissioner of the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. During the meeting, she and other AAUW members will discuss the need for women to become better informed so they can vote for issues that make schools safer, set standards for teachers and students, reduce class size, ensure equal access and opportunities for all students.
