Hendricks, a 38-year-old Jackson businessman, is making his first run for political office. Hendricks, who has run a no-frills campaign, espouses less government. He wants to eliminate the federal income tax and phase out the Social Security program.

Hendricks said there is little difference between Republicans and Democrats today. He said he offers an alternative to the increased government spending perpetuated by both parties.

As a third-party candidate, Hendricks said he won't owe allegiance to either major party if elected.
