The Southeast Missourian asked people to share memories of Christmas 1998.

Dawn Ashcraft, Whitewater: "This year we had more friendship and love between people and things that were made personally for each other. My son made me a calendar with pictures of my children when they were real little."

Thomas M. Meyer, Cape Girardeau: "Every year we have one special gift for my wife to open on Christmas Eve that she wears when we go to my parents to celebrate Christmas together. We gave her the wrong gift by mistake, so she got to open twice as many gifts that night."

Lawrence Brookins, Cape Girardeau: "We got a visit from an old coaching buddy of mine the day after Christmas. He brought his family to our house. My wife babysat their daughter almost from the day she was born, and I hadn't seen her since she was little. Now she is about as tall as me."

Lisa Childs, Jackson: "We lived in Arizona for two years before moving to Jackson in August. It was nice to see snow bringing the holiday spirit. Our little girl, Karah, who is 3 1/2, had never seen snow. So we had a snowball fight, what little it was, and that was very special."

Kay-Tee Burke, Millersville: "My grandma and grandpa gave me four dollies including one that is called "My Little Sister." I have a new baby sister, BilLeigh. She is seven months old. I got her a star magnet for her crib. I also got makeup. I already put on the lipstick."
