Richard Aufdenberg of Burfordville has joined Missouri Farm Bureau Federation & Affiliated Cos. as a career agent at the Jackson office, 406 W. Washington.

Aufdenberg has completed a two-week training session on life, accident, health, property and casualty insurance.

Patrick T. McCann has joined the Lutheran Home, 2825 Bloomfield, in Cape Girardeau, as controller-director of financial administration.

McCann, a certified public accountant for 12 years, has a bachelor of science degree in accounting and a master's degree in business administration from Southeast Missouri State University.

He is a member of the Missouri Society of Certified Public Accountants. He recently attended a seminar in St. Louis, sponsored by the Missouri Association of Homes for the Aging, on the Medicare prospective payment system.

McCann served as chairman of the University Professional Staff Council and was a member of the University Administrative Council and University Budget Review Committee. He has also worked with the SEMO AIB Study Group.

Barbara Larkins of Cape Girardeau has joined Insurance Management Services at Sikeston as a district management representative.

Larkins will coordinate marketing plans and oversee the claims management process for the company.

IMS is a professional medical claims management and appeals company at 615 Greer St. in Sikeston.

Greg Crain is the new manager at the Poplar Bluff JCPenney store. He assumes his new duties today.

He replaced Gary McDowell who will manage a JCPenney store in Duluth, Minn.

Crain will move to Missouri from Collinsville, Ill. He has been with the company 25 years.

Most recently, he served as district operations manager overseeing 18 stores.

Jana Jateff of Cape Girardeau, senior sales director with Mary Kay Cosmetics, has completed requirements for the use of her ninth company car.

Jateff is a charter member of the VIP car program. Mary Kay awards the use of car or cash compensation, based on wholesale production with the company. Jateff has chosen the cash compensation method.

Jateff, who has earned National Queens Court three times, joined Mary Kay in 1983 and was named sales director a year later.

Carolyn Asmus has been promoted to assistant vice president at Union Planters Bank in Benton.

Asmus has been with Union Planters, formerly First Financial Bank, three years. She was previously a branch supervisor and was promoted to branch manager in June.

She has completed an American Institute for Banking accounting course and is a graduate of Union Planters Management Leadership Training seminar. She also holds an investment representatives license and is available to help customers with a variety of investment opportunities.

Gene and Judith Statler of New London, and formerly of the Patton and Sedgewickville area, have purchased the Stratford Courier, a weekly newspaper in Stratford, Iowa.

The Statlers also own and publish the Ralls County Herald-Enterprise, a weekly newspaper.

Gene Statler was formerly an English teacher at Meadow Heights High School at Patton. Mrs. Statler is the former Judith Crites.

The Crites' son, Phillip, is a student at Southeast Missouri State University where he is pursuing a master's degree in geology.

Kaye Lee of Cape Girardeau, has been named 1997 "Employee of the Year" at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.

Lee, a licensed practical nurse, works on Unit 300 and has been employed at the Lutheran Home since 1973. During her work there, the facility has expanded from 60 to 307 beds.

Lee started her career as an LPN 34 years ago after graduating from the Poplar Bluff Board of Education School of Practical Nursing, in 1963.

Dr. Jana Owens is joining the Meller-James & Associates Veterinary Service in Anna, Ill.

Owens, a graduate of Southern Illinois University, received her doctorate from the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine and has been practicing in Southern Illinois since 1993.

She is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the American Association of Feline Practitioners and Cornell Feline Health Center.

She started with Meller-Janes in mid-January, as a mixed animal practitioner with special emphasis on small animal and feline medication.

Dr. Dessy Boneva of Kessigner Specific Chiropractic Clinic in Cape Girardeau has been inducted as a Fellow in the Kale Upper Cervical Specific Certification program.

The award is based on contributions to the Kale Network, headquartered in Spartanburg, S.C.

Bonevea was the only recipient of a Kale certification in 1997.

Jerry and Patsy Voshage of Jackson recently attended the 1997 Missouri Governor's Conference on Agriculture.

They were guests of Orscheln Farm & Home.

The conference, held at Tan-Tar-A Resort, Osage Beach, attracted more than 1,300 people.

Tom Jaster has been named "Salesman of the Year" at Wieser Honda-Mazda, 2611 Auto Park Drive

Jaster has been a salesman at Wieser for two years.

Sandra H. Elliott of Poplar Bluff, an independent image consultant for BeautiControl Cosmetics, recently attended a regional conference, held in Nashville, Tenn.

BeautiControl Cosmetics offers customized skin care, health and beauty supplements, color-coded cosmetics, weight management products and image services such as color analysis and skin condition.

Louise St. John, Cheryl Litzelfelner, Mary Fichter and Debbie Lix, all registered nurses at the Lutheran Home for the Aged in Cape Girardeau, have completed certification from the American Nurses Credentialing Center. Their field of specialty is in gerontological nursing.

The Lutheran Home now has six nurses on staff who have achieved certification.

Certification is presented to nurses who have met requirements for clinical and function practices. Nurses must pass a certification examination.
