More than 150 people attended the Tsalagi drop-in center at the American Legion Hall in Jackson on May 20.

There were many activities and participants at the center.

The Perryville boy Scout Troop 155 and others performed an Indian dance.

The program from the Northern Cherokee Nation was presented by Grizzly and Pitter Seabaugh along with their grand daughter Logan.

Sue White wore a white buckskin dress and performed some female pow-wow dance steps.

Pitter and Logan modeled Cherokee tear dresses and told the story behind them. While Grizzly told the history of the Cherokee people and told some other stories.

Native American items were also on display.

More than 84 Girl Scouts made a variety of crafts and worked on the council patch "The Trail of Tears."

Junior Girl Scout Jennifer Rhodes from troop 48 collected a large amount for her clothing and food drive service project for the Northern Cherokee Nation. Troop 48 developed the "Trail of Tears" patch for the council that was worked on that night.

Grizzly Seabaugh presented the Otahki Girl Scout council with one of seven special arrows recently made for a special event the local tribe held.

Accepting on behalf of the council was membership and marketing specialist Mary Jane Fieser and co-director for the Tsalagi Drop-in Center April Rhodes.

The Drop-in Center is held every third Tuesday for grades 3-12.
